Highly sought after magnificent gift of this iconic wine. Presented in a branded wooden box and containing 2 x 75cl bottles, 1 each of the 2011 and 2013 vintages of the Chteau d'Yquem, 1er Grand Cru Class, Sauternes.

The Chteau Yquem 2011 has a complex, defined bouquet, with hints of petrol infusing the rich honeyed fruit, and fresh peach coming through. The palate is well balanced with a strong viscous entry.

The 2011 has a clear silvery gold hue. The bouquet is very fragrant and well-defined, with scents of wild honey, honeysuckle and a touch of vanilla. It is a refined, sedate and beautifully focused bouquet that does not need to show off. The palate displays superb weight in the mouth, even though at first it seems almost understated. Yet there is clearly a high level of spicy, botrytized fruit with notes of honey, orange zest and a touch of mandarin. There is no explosion on the finish; the 2011 is rather a lesson in control, complexity and nuance. Utterly seductive. 96-98 points, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate.

The 2013 vintage could present the culmination of the style of Yquem. The strong international demand that Yquem experienced for this vintage is intrinsic to its qualities and its reputation as a nectar of solid gold. Yquem 2013 is a deep, golden yellow, beautifully lustrous and bright. Exhibiting an exceptional aromatic purity, aromas of fresh mango, dried linden flowers and ginger create a nose which is mesmerizing. On agitation, we experience aromas of spices, a refreshing minerality, rich, unique and accentuated by the perfume of black tea. On the palate, it is full of flavour and chiselled by a beautifully fresh acidity followed mid-palate by accents of white pepper, marmalade, fresh pineapple and fresh hazelnut. The finish is volatile with a touch of verbena and a pleasant acidity. This is a wine, which is precise and complete. In short, Yquem in all its magnificence. Awarded 19+ by Robinson
Country Of Origin: France
In 1993, Chteau d'Yquem celebrated 400 years of ownership by the same family. In 1593, the Sauvage family bought this estate which came into the Lur Saluces patrimony when Francoise Josphine de Sauvage married Count Louis Amde de Lur Saluces in 1785. Marquis Bertrand de Lur Saluces was one of the 20th century's most important personalities in the world of wine.

Count Alexandre de Lur Saluces has followed in his Uncle Betrand's footsteps since 1968. Highly motivated to perfect this prestigious product while respecting tradition, he is determined to offer maximum quality. All those who love this inimitable wine, from Jefferson to Pamela Harriman, former U.S. Ambassador, by way of great Duke Constantine, have approved this philosophy from vintage to vintage.

Yquem is the result of painstaking efforts by everyone who works on the estate. However, nature is the major factor in making the most of the rare soil of Yquem.
