The finest Spanish Oloroso wood and American oak is used to mature this rich, intriguingly fruity and robust oak expression, but there are many more reasons why this expression is special.

Every batch is individually numbered and carefully watched over. Each has extraordinary consistency and character from an intense marrying period. On the nose, a remarkably rich aroma with ripe orchard fruit, baked apple and robust oak, in the mouth it delivers rich luxurious dried fruit, candy peel and dates, overlaid with elegant oak notes and a warming, rewarding, distinguished finish.

A truly exceptional single malt, the result not just of eighteen years of care and attention, but of whisky-making craft and knowledge passed down through the generations.

Few men have built their own distillery with their own bare hands. But that's exactly how William Grant started writing his story. For 20 years William Grant nurtured a dream to make the "best dram in the valley". In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William set out to fulfil a lifelong ambition. Together they began building his Distillery by hand, stone by stone. After a single year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, Gaelic for Valley of the Deer.

William's passion, determination and pioneering spirit continues to guide the distillery today. Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family owned and is now the World's Most Awarded Single Malt* Scotch Whisky, a true reflection of the William Grant's innovative nature, passed down through the generations.

Using many of the same methods for 125 years, a mixture of specially-sourced barley, ground down and added to Robbie Dhu springwater, is heated to 64°C. The porridge-like "mash" turns to sugar, dissolving into a fine sweet, tangy liquid called wort. The wort is drained, cooled and passed into Wash Backs, where yeast is added and fermentation begins.

The wash is heated and condensed in copper Wash Stills for its first distillation, and a second time in Spirit Stills. Robbie Dhu spring water is added to the newly distilled spirit at 63.5% alcohol and it is then stored in the finest American oak and Spanish Oloroso oak casks in the Glenfiddich Warehouses, breathing in Highland air, waiting patiently until primed for bottling.
