A Hennessy gift pack celebrating their collaboration with British designer Tom Dixon, pairing a 70cl bottle of Hennessy with a 5cl gold miniature, all packaged up in a stylish branded Hennessy Gift Box.

Created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for his circle of friends, X.O (Extra Old) was born at a turning point in history and introduced a new style of cognac: bold, rich and complex.

Its intense and deep amber color is a sign of its strength. Its flavours of candied fruit and its subtle and lightly spicy nose create a complete harmony: a mark of its roundness. To taste, a smooth, full sensation gives a simultaneously powerful and soft tonality with a hint of cocoa and a warm fruity presence. The long finish expresses all the complexity of the cognac's blending and its long aging process.

The 100 eaux-de-vie assembled to create X.O were aged for a long time - some for 30 years - to give an unparalleled robustness. Maurice Hennessy gave the name X.O to this unique "extra old" cognac.

At once deep and powerful, its character seduces connoisseurs, who appreciate its undeniable modernity and constant revelation of layers of flavours, whether tasted neat, on ice or with a splash of still or sparkling water.

Maurice Hennessy, great-grandson of founder Richard Hennessy, decided to create a cognac classification. He used varying numbers of stars to designate different quality, giving rise to Hennessy's Three Star Cognac, today known as V.S (Very Special). Soon this classification was adopted by the entire industry.

Maurice Hennessy also created the X.O (Extra Old) classification of Cognac. Originally for family and friends, it is today a worldwide reference for cognacs.

In Cognac, and only in Cognac, at Hennessy, cognac is not improvised. It is raised with kindness and attention, firmness and affection. First, there is the grapevine. It yields Ugni Blanc, the light fruity grape especially suited to Hennessy Maison's double distillation in great copper stills. To ensure the aromas will be both excellent and varied, only eaux-de-vie from the four great crus of the region (Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois), are selected for the privilege of becoming great Hennessy cognacs.

Next comes the ageing time, a test of vision and imagination, since this phase can extend beyond an entire lifetime. In the Hennessy cellars, casks hewn from over 100-year-old oak trees, exclusively from French forests, stand in a dim light infused with heavy notes. A total of over 300,000 casks rest here. Hennessy is proud to have one of the largest reserve of cognac eaux-de-vie in the world. The Founder’s Cellar is in itself a symbol of this heritage, the time-defying heart of Hennessy Maison. Every single one of these eaux-de-vie has been aged for at least fifty years, and many are over a hundred years old. Once at the top of their potential, they are put in large wicker-encased glass demijohns to preserve their exceptional qualities. They will then be used to create the rarest cognacs. The oldest eau-de-vie dates from 1800.
