Metis Sauvignon Blanc was inspired by Pascal Jolivet and his holistic approach to winemaking in Sancerre.

The name Metis refers to the collaboration between the two winemakers to produce this great wine. This fusion of philosophies is reflected in the flower on the label that is a hybrid of the South African Protea and French Iris.

The wine displays typical and atypical Sauvignon blanc traits due to the way it is made. It has an expressive, rich and energetic palate with unique savoury and mineral flavours. It finishes off with a burst of fresh acidity that it long and full.

Situated in the heart of the Constantia Wine Route, Klein Constantia produces wines that reflect the unique terroir. Close proximity to the sea results in winds that flow across the Constantia Valley from False Bay in the summer months, providing a perfect cooling effect on the higher altitude vineyards while the lower slopes enjoy warmer temperatures. Klein Constantia's premium Estate range is spearheaded by a world acclaimed and highly popular Sauvignon Blanc, and a Cabernet Sauvignon that regularly garners awards and praise as one of South Africa's best wines.

The grapes were hand harvested from a selection of the higher vineyards. Blocks with a high acidity and low pH were selected to withstand the way in which the wine is made. The wine underwent a long, cool fermentation and was left to mature on its fine lees for 9 months in stainless steel tanks. There was no sulphur added at crush, no settling and there was minimal winemaking interference.
