A remarkably elegant Vintage Port with hints of orange and delicate acidity. Ever so traditional, this elegant single vintage tawny has the most intricate nose of orange peel, hazelnuts, cherries and toast. These characters are finely intertwined with luscious sweetness and gentle acidity on the palate with an amazingly long finish. Presented in a Krohn Wooden Box, the perfect gift.

Wiese and Krohn was founded in 1865 by two young Norwegians, Theodor Wiese & Dankert Krohn. Edmundo Falcão Carneiro acquired the company in the 1930s and Wiese and Krohn was run by the second and third generations of the Falcão Carneiro family - brother and sister Jose and Iolanda - until 2013. Long renowned for the quality of their sublime Colheitas (single vintage tawnies), they produce a remarkably complete range for a small house and each wine excels in its category. Colheita Ports are single year Ports that have been matured in wood for at least seven years, though they are generally bottled just before they leave the cellar, which is usually long after the spirit’s seventh birthday. 1976 was an extremely dry year with a very hot summer, only a small amount of rain fell late August produced healthy and fully ripe grapes but with very low production. Krohn Port was acquired by the Fladgate Partnership (owners of Taylor, Croft and Fonseca) in 2013. Krohn’s stocks of Port reach over 5 million litres and are stored in six cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia and one cellar in the Douro Region. They have exceptional stocks of aged tawny Port and Colheita Port dating back to 1863 The Quinta do Retiro Novo estate in Sarzedinho, in the Rio Torto valley, is all A grade vineyard. Vinification takes place here, with some of the top wines still being trodden by foot.
