A juicy affair with serious depth and concentration. This is a perfumed and aromatic red with a notable floral twist of violets and peonies. This gorgeous wine is silky and elegant throughout the palate with an abundance of luscious blackcurrant, raspberry and red berry fruit flavours backed up with a touch of spice and good depth. Perfect match with a roast leg of lamb in winter, or in summer, chill and serve with roast or barbecued chicken. Simply irresistible.

The Chanudet family have owned veinyards at La Madone since the 1920s. The family also run a seed nursery which allows them to meticulously select vines for optimum grape health.

'Arenite' is the terroir of pinky, crumbly sandstone of the La Madone vineyards, rated as one of the best vineyards in Fleurie. Goblet trained vines on the east/south east facing vineyards lying are below the Chapel of the Madonna at the top of the hill. Gamay Noir vines range from 40 to 90 years of age and deliver grapes with superb concentration and character.

Grapes are hand-picked and whole-berry fermented for 8-10 days (traditional maceration carbonique) followed by a further 2 or 3 days on the skin to assist with aromas. No use of cultured yeasts. Pressed after 8-10 day cuvaison. First press wine returned to wine and left for 8 months before bottling.
