Our key team members have all worked for us for a number of years and combine years of experience in the Bar, Events and Hospitality trades as well as bringing valuable previous experience from retailing, marketing and sales roles.

All of us have a passion for wines and spirits and a real genuine enthusiasm for what we do.  We love to help people choose wines and drinks for occasions or gifts and are always keen to try new things and encourage others to do the same.  We are here to help and advise you if needs be or simply make sure your order reaches you in perfect condition, and to help sort out any issues otherwise.

You can rest assured when you call us during our main office hours of 9.30am-5.30pm (Monday – Friday*) you will usually speak to one of us.  We will always do our best to help you but if we don’t know about a product, we will be honest and tell you – or we will try and find out and come back to you.  We are always trying to make sure we increase our knowledge and experience with training, courses, visits and (of course tastings) and our satisfaction comes from sharing our passion for what we do and knowing that we have helped you perhaps try something new, perhaps found the wine or drink you were searching for or the perfect gift for someone special.  *If you call us outside of these times, generally at least one of us is always here but if not, you will speak to one of our bar team who can take a message for you and one of us will get in touch as soon as we are next in.

 

Edward - Owner

Edward is the business owner, main buyer and chief wine taster for Saxtys Wines. One of the Herefordshire Symonds family that gave the famous cider brand its name, his family experience and credentials in this trade need little further explanation. His original family company was the Symonds Cider and English Wine Company so it is inevitable that wine is – so to speak - in his bloodstream.  He has literally grown up in the industry with his family’s other business, NSA Event Bars.

Edward took on Saxtys Bar, Restaurant and Club in 2001; already an established business, but he has taken it forward since to keep this thriving establishment a popular and well-loved venue in Hereford City Centre. It is from here that Saxtys Wines was born in 2010..

Today, having expanded Saxtys Wines into new premises and open our first retail space, Edward continues to source exciting new products and (when he’s not off on research or buying trips or attending the Champagne Academy 2016) is often the voice at the end of the telephone helping you choose your wine or champagne. 

 

Kay - Operations Manager
 

Kay has worked for Saxtys part time since 2004 and then full time from 2010 and has over 20 years experience in the licensed trade, both in hospitality / bars and retailing.  With a particular fondness for good quality wines and champagnes, she is always on the lookout for great products to recommend that give you real value for money and likes to make sure she regularly tries a good variety of products to make sure she can help with your queries where possible.  Her current favourite fizz is the Bollinger Vintage 2009 James Bond Special Edition.

 

 

 

 

Jessica - Online Sales Manager
 

Jessica has worked for Saxtys Bar and our other sister business NSA Event Bars since 2010 and has built up a fantastic knowledge of Wines, Champagnes and Spirits from her customer experiences both in house and out and about. Jessica has a love of big Italian reds, and also is very partial to a good Blanc de Blancs Champagne.  Her current “top tipple” is the Pol Roger 2008 Blanc de Blancs. 

 

 

 

 

 

Carl - E-Commerce Manager
 

Carl has been with our sister company Saxtys Wine Bar since 2014; more recently moving across to Saxtys Wines, Carl brings over four years’ experience in the hospitality trade both in the UK and Australia. With a colourful passion for New World Wines especially the wines he sampled whilst living in Australia. Having previous worked in the E-Commerce Industry; Carl is usually the man on the end of the phone answering your Technical Queries. Currently Carl's favourite tipple is the Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque 2007.

 

 

 

 

Isobel - Trade Manager
 

‘After graduating university with a degree in English, I accidentally stumbled across a career in the wine trade with a huge retailer. After my first few days at Majestic, I was hooked. My curiosity for wine flourished (and still does) and I embraced every scrap of knowledge I could. Having successfully passed my WSET Advanced Level 3 I am even more enamoured with the subject than I was before. I have a soft spot for the Rhône Valley and love wines from Margaret River but most of all I love to discover anything new and interesting. An opportunity came up at Saxtys Wines and I was keen to hone in on more specialised products so it was perfect. I’m hoping to embark upon studying for the Diploma soon and can’t wait to meet everyone in our lovely little bottle shop and in the trade.’ 

 

 

 

Harry - Events & Marketting Executive
 

Having worked for our sister Company NSA Event Bars for over Eight Years Harry has built up a wealth of knowledge in this sector, especially within Events. A keen eye for detail and perfection makes Harry the 'one stop shop' for hospitality events. Harry is usually the man walking you through your event and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
