In the iron-rich soils of La Rioja, a province famous for its early 19th century federalist warlord Facundo Quiroga and whose local cuisine features a lot of lamb, Laura Catena of Catena Zapata has created a "meaty" Syrah. Part of the new range of Pasarisa wines, showcasing some of the exciting rural regions in Argentina, this is a long and persistent wine suitable for bottle ageing.

On the nose, notes of red fruit combined with spice. The palate has hints of liquorice, vanilla and coconut.

Country Of Origin: Argentina
Laura Catena, torchbearer for Argentina and fourth generation of the Catena family, of Bodega Catena Zapata, has created the new range of Pasarisa wines, showcasing some of the exciting regions in Argentina.

Called Pasarisa, a word made up from the first two letters of Patagonia, Salta and La Rioja, then finishing with the initials of South America, the new range sees Catena work with growers in these far flung regions to highlight their varied history, culture and wine styles. Featuring hand-sketched, colonial style labels designed by Stranger & Stranger, which aim to highlight aspects of Argentina’s historical and cultural heritage, these exceptional wines pave the way for regional Argentina all over the world.
