This rum dating back to before Fidel Castro's ascent to power in 1962. Originating from the 1940s and carefully ageing in sherry barrels. It stands as an absolute rarity, a testament to the craftsmanship and heritage of Cuban rum-making.

When the Estevez family became owners of the bodega Valdespino in 1999, Miguel Valdespino himself told them about some casks of very special old rum. The rum had been distilled in Cuba during the early part of the 1940s and then shipped to Spain soon after. It was then stored in oak casks previously used for maturing in oloroso sherry and has remained untouched ever since.
