Sailor jerry spiced rum was developed after loads of historical research into maritime rums. The recipe is based on the tradition of sailors improving the flavour of their on-board rum rations by blending in spices. The all-natural spices and flavours give the rum a rich, smooth taste characterized by top notes of vanilla and cinnamon.

Sailor Jerry was born Norman Collins, but chose to define himself on his own terms. Given the nickname 'Jerry' after his father notices a similar disposition between the young troublemaker and the family's cantankerous mule. The 'Sailor' was added later when he joined the Navy. Collins left home as a teenager to travel the country by hitchhiking and train hopping. Over his travels, he learned his craft for tattooing, initially working primitively with only a needle and black ink, creating designs freehand, one poke at a time.

It was during his stint in the navy that Collins developed a lifelong love of ships. Over time he became an exacting craftsman, his tattoos were precise, bold and flawless. Even the riggings on his clipper ship tattoos were nautically accurate. After leaving the Navy, he moved to Hawaii to work as a tattoo artist.

His distinct artwork and branding was well known around the world in his time. He truly was an innovator and a true independent spirit whose work is still revered today. A master craftsman, his artistry and integrity remain timeless as does the rum that bears his signature.

Today, the rum is crafted to a similar standard with an emphasis on quality and integrity, the genuine product.
