Sipsmith London Cup is a sublimely sippable punch crafted from the award-winning London Dry Gin, infused with Earl Grey tea, borage, lemon verbena and a host of other botanicals.

This gin cup was inspired by the punches of 1800's London. Punch proliferated in a city gone mad for gin. After British sailors returned to London from India, they brought with them a magical potion that takes its name from the Hindi word 'panch,' meaning five, and named for its five flavour components (spirit with sweet, dilution, citrus, spice, bitter). Sipsmith London Cup is inspired by these punches of old and blends Earl Grey tea, lemon verbena and borage with a selection of vermouth and bitters, and of course the classic London Dry Gin.

The leaves of the borage plant, also known as the starflower, give a fresh, almost sweet flavour reminiscent of cucumber.

On the nose, Burnt orange and caramel with a burst of fresh citrus. In the mouth, the bold juniper notes of the gin are complimented by a zesty marmalade on the palate with notes of scorched oak and bitter-sweet spice on the finish.

The history of London's gin industry is peppered with tales of small-scale producers boiling up heady spirits in tiny sheds. So it was natural that the first copper still to be built in the capital for 189 years would be in a tin-roofed suburban garage in Hammersmith.

In 2009, on a mission to bring gin of uncompromising quality and character back to the city where it all began, Sipsmith launched a traditional copper distillery for the first time in London for nearly 200 years. It was to mark the beginning of a gin distilling renaissance in London. Inspired by the two hundred years of London distilling history, they balance modern technology with traditional recipes and techniques. They handcraft their spirits in small batches with skill and care, only ever taking the heart of the spirit, and never made from concentrate. Each product is crafted by hand in genuinely small batches of never more than 500 bottles a time, often considerably less.

This delivers stunning spirits that are stunningly smooth, full of character and exploding with flavour. Dedicated Distillers Jared and Ollie watch over every drop of every batch and the Sipsmiths passionately believe this is the only way to craft spirits of this quality.
