Made from the South African varietal pinotage, this is a well balanced Rose gushing with rich red berry flavours and a soft juicy finish. Brilliant clear pink with an orange tinge, the wine has a distinct nose rich in crushed strawberry flavours with ripe cherry nuances and hints of Turkish delight and spice.

The Stonewalker wines are produced at the Franschhoek Cellar winery. The wines take their name from the story of a winemaker at Franschhoek in the 1950's who lived across the Berg river from the winery. Each morning he would rock hop across the river stones to get to work. In the winter, when the rains flooded the river, he often arrived late or sometimes not at all and many times had to sleep in the cellar as he could not get home again.

The Franschhoek Cellar is situated at the gateway to Franschhoek � a romantic village known for its French Huguenot heritage - in one of the most scenic wine valleys in the world.

The wine estate was built in 1920 by the legendary John Winshaw, founder of Stellenbosch Farmers� Winery, but was eventually taken over by a group of local farmers of the Franschhoek Co-op Wine Cellar who were selling their wines under the brands of Franschhoek Cellar, Franschhoek Vineyards, and La Cotte. In 1995, the co-op became Franschhoek Cellars, an independent company, now owned by DGB wines.

Stonewalker wines are made by JD Roussouw , working in conjunction with viticulturalist Stephan Joubert. Stephan and his team identify the best possible fruit sources from across the Cape's premier wine growing regions and then work with the growers to implement viticultural practices to produce high quality fruit with concentrated flavours.

The viticulturist selects the finest quality grapes for this wine from defined areas of the Western Cape for terroir specificity and varietal style. Pinotage grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness to allow full flavour development and the desired sugar content. The grapes are pressed and crushed to obtain the desired colour and flavour extraction. The wine is then settled and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 14�C for approximately 14 days.
