Cornwall's first gin for over a century. A contemporary take on a classic London Dry, using fragrant handpicked Devon violets and fresh orange zest to deliver an aromatic sensation unlike any other. In the distillerys own words, the result is comparable to stumbling upon a beautiful orange blossom in the middle of a crisp, dry pine forest.

The citrus notes come from the fresh fruit zests of sweet orange, lemon and grapefruit, from wherever they are in season and the Devon violets grown in the garden.

There are only 300 bottles created in each batch, all individually filled, corked, sealed, labelled, numbered and waxed by hand.

Gold Medal Winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016.

Tarquins Gin is produced by Southwestern Distillery - an independent family company handcrafting Gin and Pastis in tiny batches (the old-fashioned way) by the coast of north Cornwall.

At the heart of this process lies a special, flame-fired, copper pot still called Tamara, goddess of the Tamar. The myriad of micro reactions in the pot where the copper meets the fire achieves an incredible level of complexity, using a method known as one-shot distillation, which means exactly the right blend of botanicals is used in every run to make an entirely finished spirit. Extravagant, but uncompromising.

The distillery sources juniper is from Kosovo, it is fresh and earthy / woody, but also quite floral. Complementing this are lemon-sherberty coriander seeds from Bulgaria, rather than the hot and spicy Moroccan variety.

Other botanicals include angelica root from Poland, orris root from Morocco, green cardamom seeds from Guatemala, bitter almond from Morocco, cinnamon from Madagascar and liquorice root from Uzbekistan. In addition to this, fresh citrus fruit is sourced from all around the world, depending on where they are perfectly ripe and in season.

The stand-out unusual ingredient is the Devon violet grown in the distillery garden. From these, the delicate leaves are taken which add a vibrant green freshness to the gin and create something deliciously unique.

Only the best and most pure spirit (the heart) makes it into Tarquins Gin, which is diluted to bottling strength at 42% with naturally sweet, soft, local Cornish spring water.
